Boating and swimming access to Elkhorn Creek at Oser Landing, Great Crossing and Cardome will remain closed through Monday afternoon, according to Georgetown/Scott County Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Hennigan. The closure is a result of a sewage spill that happened Saturday afternoon along Paris Pike.
Hennigan said lab results the Environmental Protection Agency took Sunday came back positive and unsafe for humans to be in. The EPA will be taking more samples Sunday evening.
Georgetown Municipal Water Service said Saturday night drinking water is safe because it comes from a different source.
More details on the sewage spill will be in Tuesday’s News-Graphic.
