Silas Whitehead, a former Scott County Sheriff’s Office deputy, turned himself in on shoplifting charges in Lexington Monday morning, according to Sgt. Donnell Gordon with the Lexington Police Department.
Documents allege he committed several thefts, of mainly groceries, from the Walmart on New Circle Road, where he was employed and while he was an active deputy, from Feb. 23 through May 1, according to WLEX 18.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the arrest, the department released in a statement. Whitehead was employed by the Sheriff’s Office from Sept. 5, 2017 to May 6, 2019. The Sheriff’s Office had no other comment on the matter as it is an active case by the Lexington Police Department and did not involve his employment with Scott County, the statement read.
Gordon booked Whitehead into the Fayette County Detention Center, he said.
