Kentuckians can fish for free this weekend, without a license, according to the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife.
The department posted on their Facebook that Kentucky Free Fishing Weekend is Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2. No license or trout stamp will be required to fish across the state. Both residents and nonresidents may participate.
Free Fishing Weekend applies to both public and private waters, although landowner permission is still required to fish on private land.
Free Fishing Weekend has been an annual event in Kentucky since 1992. A number of fishing events are planned across the state this weekend. More information on fishing events can be found at https://kentucky.gov/Pages/Activity-stream.aspx?n=FishandWildlife&prId=395.
