An Ohio man faces charges after stealing a car and then threatening the person he stole it from and various law enforcement officials last Wednesday, according to Georgetown Police citations.

Walter C. Brown Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, faces a quartet of charges when he allegedly stole a 2017 white Volkswagen Jetta at the BP on Scotland Drive, the arrest citation states. Officers arrived and found the victim, who stated a black male, wearing a dark shirt and pants with a backpack asked her for a ride to Cincinnati.

She told him she would not do that. Since the car was new, she got out of the car to check for the gas fill spout. When she exited the vehicle to see what side it was on, the suspect got into her vehicle and drove off, the citation states.

A witness saw what happened and called 911 while following the vehicle. He reported the car crashed at the intersection of Old Oxford Road and Abby Road, according to the arrest citation.

When officers arrived at the accident scene, a witness said he saw an older black male in dark clothing and a backpack get out of the vehicle, throwing female clothes from a bag, the citation states.

Officers searched the area and found a white sports bra, jeans and socks but not the suspect. The victim said the items belonged to her, and reported she was missing an iPad, case and a keyboard, possibly a Mac laptop, credit cards and checkbooks. There was a bag on the floorboard and a jacket, but the victim said they weren’t hers. It had mail in it, and Brown’s name was tracked down. Officers showed the victim a booking photo of him, and she stated, “Yes, that is the guy who took my car. 100%.”

The suspect was located walking down Old Oxford Road, and when he was placed under arrest and read his rights, the citation states Brown told the officer, “(expletive) you, I ain’t talking to you you (expletive) just take me to jail.” Officers also found the stolen iPad and the victim identified it as hers after the password unlocked it.

At the jail, Brown became irate, yelling and cursing officers and jail staff, the citation states. He said, among other things, “(Expletive) that (expletive) from the gas station and her car. That (expletive) is dead when I get out.” He yelled at the arresting officer, “When I get out, I’ll catch you slipping,’ show up to your house while you’re having breakfast with your family and show you what up. I’ll end you and them. (Expletive) you, you punk (expletive), you (slur)” and “When I get out, you’ll pay for this. I’ll catch you when your not expecting it.”

Brown was booked on theft by unlawful taking more than $500 but less than $10,000, leaving the scene of an accident, second-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree terroristic threatening.
