An onsite vendor employee at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed Rick Hesterberg, Toyota spokesman.
The vendor has not worked onsite at TMMK since May 14 and will remain in self isolation until cleared by a physician.
TMMK will remain in operation. The plant reopened May 11 after shutting down operations for about seven weeks due to the pandemic.
“The health and safety of our team members, business partners and community are a top priority,” Hesterberg said in a press release. “We are working with state and local health officials on this issue and will continue to follow their guidance on all proper protocols.”
Before reopening, TMMK established new safety protocols and procedures to protect against COVID-19. Health officials praised TMMK’s efforts calling them, “the gold standard.”
