Georgetown City Councilman Brad Penn told a city police detective he was going to write a check for up to $3,000 to his former employer to end an inquiry into missing cash and merchandise.

“I’m gonna call her and offer to write her a check for whatever she thinks I owe her in cash,” Penn told Lt. Don Mather near the end of an interview on Aug. 7, 2012, at the Georgetown Police Department. Their conversation that was part of an investigation that Penn’s longtime employer requested.
