“Jack-of-all-trades”

Charles Earl McCombs, 73, husband of Elizabeth Lyman McCombs, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. Born in Brownsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Victor and Helen Brooks McCombs.

A “jack-of-all-trades,” he was a former deputy jailer and sheriff in Brownsville. In 1988, he moved to Georgetown with his late wife, and worked for the State of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and later retired as a clerk with BP.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn McCombs; and sister, Annelle Mann.

He is survived by his current wife, Elizabeth Lyman McCombs; children, Leah McCombs, Georgetown, Staci (Robert) Barber, Richmond, Charles (Mike) McCombs Jr., Louisville and Jason McCombs, Richmond; step-daughter, Susan (Tara) Lyman, Winchester; sisters, Mary Lee (Tom) Bratcher and Vicki Houchin; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jeremy Allen, Logan Grampp, Eli and Caroline Riney and Anthony Carr; great-grandchildren, Adrienne and Jensen Dugas.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. central time with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville, Kentucky. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.johnsonsfuneralhome.com.
