Myrtie Simpson Cassity

Myrtie Simpson Cassity, 98, wife of Cabell Cassity, passed away, Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Harrison County, Kentucky, to the late Nova Simpson and Bertha Pope Simpson. She was a member of Stamping Ground Christian Church. Myrtie worked with her husband who was the owner of Cassity Funeral Home in Stamping Ground, Kentucky, which the family started in 1912. She was a licensed beautician, a retail clerk and a partner in the Rose Shoppe which also was in Stamping Ground, Kentucky. Myrtie’s family was very important to her.
She is survived by her sons, William (Suzanne) Cassity and Larry (Rosemary) Cassity, both of Georgetown, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Amber Cronen, of Lexington, Paul Cassity, of Frankfort and Ashley Cassity, of Bagdad, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren, Madeline Cronen, Kendrick Cassity and Larkin Cassity. Myrtie is also survived by her brothers, Nova Simpson and Roy Simpson, both of Lexington and Bobby Simpson of Frankfort; her sister, Marjorie Wright of Lexington. She is preceded in death by her children, Janice Arlene Cassity and Wayne Cabell Cassity, her brother, Leonard Simpson, sisters, Nina Marshall and Virginia Leach.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Breeding and Rev. Chip Dennison officiating. Burial will be Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Paul Cassity, Ashley Cassity, David Cronen, Wayne Murphy, Neville Purvis and Kendrick Cassity.
