Scott County High School’s first-ever appearance at the KHSAA state bass fishing championships was a successful       venture.

The tandem of Colton Combs and Austin Taylor, together with boat captain Scott Gray, finished 24th at Kentucky Dam Marina. Their Saturday take of 10 pounds, four ounces included a big bass of 4-10.

Tyler Sammons and Cainaan Halsey kicked off the event with head coach Jimmy Gayhart at their side Friday.

They wound up 39th with a weigh-in of 7-9, led by a top catch of 3-10.

Sixty-eight duos competed in the event.

“For the first year this team had made it to state championship, these guys fished awesome. Big things are coming for this entire team.”

Four SC anglers will compete in a national competition in Alabama next month.
