To the Editor,
I don’t want to be too lengthy (though I could) but I speak on behalf of a vast majority of minorities, adults and youth who are shut out of things to do here in Georgetown.
Family recreational or nightlife orientated venues. After all, someone finally woke up at city hall and saw the success of ‘Party in the Park’ and now they promote that extensively.
Which is sad for a town who’s demographic has more youth (source: wikipedia) than 45 years old and up
Furthermore, why won’t the News-Graphic run a investigative story on why a town that is barely housing 29,000 people has so many storage units, insurance agencies and banks?
I’ve lived in two other highly populated cities, mainly Killeen, Texas, that didn’t even have as many storage units as “Gtown” and Killeen Sears a military base so it’s understandable for them to constantly build RV lots and storage units.
It’s the same old same in this local government no matter the mayor, council member, or planning and zoning commission members. They purposely stunt the growth here.
I have more to say but I don’t want to run/rant on. Georgetown has lost more good venues than it has gained (i.e. skating rink, pool hall, bowling lanes and numerous restaurants.) Georgetown could be better for all of us and the citizens shouldn’t have to travel out of town for fun. God bless.
